Have you immersed yourself in the works of Megan Whalen Turner? If not, put them at the top of the Shame List immediately.

The Thief (1996)
The Queen of Attolia (2000)
The King of Attolia (2006)

I spent the past week glorying in them, re-listening to the first three books of the series on unabridged audiobook from Recorded Books by way of some local public libraries.

I did all of this listening in anticipation of reading A Conspiracy of Kings (2010), which was published in March. I have just finished reading it since I couldn’t wait for the audiobook (due January of 2011). Note the amount of time between each book publication. See how long we have to wait? Yet they are always worth it, no matter how long we wait.

There are potentially two more books about Attolia – Eddis – Sounis to come!

Inspired by the tales, I wove up a crimson wool, camel, and silk confection.

Inspired by Attolia

I ended up lacing in part of the Slinky yarn from Green Valley, which gives a bit of sparkle and sheen to the edges. I think the effect is suitably royal yet practical for wear in Sounis or Eddis – but perhaps too tame for Eugenides in the coastal climate of Attolia.

“Now the choice was mine, and once it was made, I would have no right to blame anyone else for the consequences.” – A Conspiracy of Kings, Megan Whalen Turner
